Glorfindel pauses at the edge of the porch, staring up at the fading stars joyously, reveling in their song. A week is entirely too long to be away, though he does not regret the reasons that held him away for so long. Off in the forest, the birds launch into full riotous song, filling the air as the Sun finally makes her appearance over the encircling ring of cliffs. Fresh morning light glints off the snow, the icy tree branches just beginning to bud, the roofs of the halls further down into the valley.

"People will believe you have been hiding a new, pregnant bride, cousin," she murmurs as they walk. "What will your charges think?"

He gets no further, as a snowball launched from the treetops strikes him full in the face.
"You come late, pen valthen!" A merry voice calls. "My brother and I waited for you in vain! Is this fair maid the cause, perhaps? You have been hiding secrets from us, Glorfindel, for shame!" The elf the voice belongs to is lithe and dark-haired, his smoky grey eyes laughing as he sprawls along one of the slender upper branches of the oak he had been hiding in.

"It has been many a year since I have seen Glorfindel take a snowball to his fair face," she calls. "You must be one of the miscreants he has spoken so fondly of."

"Do you often engage in snowfights at dawn?" she asks Glorfindel, her eyes sparkling as they haven't for a very long time.

Glorfindel shakes his head at his young charge and takes Nerdanel's arm again.
"When you are done sulking in the trees, elfling, you may join us for breakfast." Elladan smiles at the teasing.
"You just want your lady friend to yourself for a while longer. Have no fear! I'll be sure to ward my brother off, should he venture too close!" Then, with a wave for Nerdanel, he disappears from sight, as if he had never been.

"You drag them out of their warm beds for swordfights?" she asks with a raised brow.

"What shall we be dining on for breakfast?"

"Well, you have not wasted away into nothingness, so their cooking must be adequate. And Feaho is not a particular sort. He only demands his dozen meals a day, really," she giggles. "Tell me, do the twins look as much alike as my twins do? Are they mirrors?"

Though she does hold tight to his hand.
"Well, if you had not been a mother to twins, perhaps it would be difficult to tell two apart." Her cheeks flush a little as she watches where she walks. "He was quite handsome, Glorfindel, you did not tell me that."

"Cousin mine, please remember I have known that one, and his brother, since they were concieved. I look at them, and more often than not, I see the elflings they were instead of the warriors and lords they are."
no subject
"Then let me assure you, my golden flower, he is very handsome."

"Have I ever been one to say exactly what was on my mind?" she asks with a wry grin.

"You see the influence of Lord Celeborn on the construction." He explains as they walk up the stone-flagged path. "He is nephew to the Sindarian king, Elu Thingol, and is much of a mind with him."

"The Sindar came into Aman and created their own little cities and settlements. They were not all that pleased at the domination of the Noldor. Thranduil, Valar -- he created his own woodland realm where he and his father can reside."

"They are barbarous!"
