There is no moon tonight. The stonework is still lit, though, dimly, by the multitude of stars overhead. There isn't even a single cloud to obstruct the view. Glorfindel was right, however - the wind is a bit sharp up on the palace's tower.

There's benefits to having taken care of the royal couple when they were children.

The eagle makes a scornful clucking sound, as if doubtful of this logic.
"He is not always so careful with his own person." Landroval notes.

"Come, Landroval, it has been almost a millenia." Glorfindel protests.

"Since the last time. Disaster is well due."

Eagle and elf eye each other pointedly.

"I have heard of wild kine near Dunland, if such would serve." Glorfindel offers, and the eagle bobs, settling his feathers.

"They would be passing fair hunting, to be sure."

Alana's amusement only grows as she watches the exchange, and she ducks her head. "I shall take your wise counsel and look after him," she says to the eagle. "Thank you for your concern. I am grateful, though some of us may not be."

Said with a brow raise at Glorfindel.

"Get ye gone, giant featherduster, you have corrupted the poor lady." Glorfindel huffs, shooing the giant bird, as if even his weight would make any difference if Landroval had a mind to stay.

"Give my greetings to Elrond's children, flower-lord." Landroval instructs, unruffled by Glorfindel's attempts to shift him. "Fair skies and good hunting to you, Lady Alana."

"Fair skies and good hunting to you as well, Lord Landroval," Alana says, raising a hand in a wave. "It was a pleasure."

She smiles at Glorfindel as the bird takes his leave, sweeping up into the sky and tousling Alana's hair with the backdraft. "Well, that was fun! I can honestly say I never expected to meet a giant eagle."

"You are lucky - few will as the years go by, until they too pass into legend and myth." Glorfindel acknowledges, briefly staring out into the night, noting the flicker of feathers in starlight. "And the world will be poorer for it."

That sobers her up. She inclines her head. "Indeed," she says, watching the eagle soar up into stars. "I thank you for the opportunity. For all of this. I've had a wonderful time."

He gives himself a shake, and his impish smile returns.

"The pleasure is mine - it is always good to see such things with fresh eyes. Perhaps you could be convinced to come again?"

Don't tell anyone, but sometimes he finds it unbearably sad that soon this world, the one he knows is full of magic and wonder, will lose its luster and become workaday and ordinary. Better that someone else can see it before it changes entirely, and be remembered elsewhere.
